For the past 18 years she has taught historical keyboards and performance practice. She has concertized in the USA, Europe, Russia, Japan and China. She has been an honorary professor at Shanghai Conservatory since 1992 and has done research on European music in 17th and 18th century China, which was widely published.

Forum debate with Prof. Dr. Alex Brenninkmeijer, University of Utrecht, Member of the European Court of Auditors and Prof. Dr. András Pap, Hungarian Academy of Sciences Institute for Legal Studies and visiting Professor Central European University, Budapest.
In the frame of Amsterdam Conversations and in cooperation with A Soul for Europe, both speakers will enlighten us on this topic.
Prof. Pap, visiting professor at the Cental European University in Budapest belongs to a growing pool of dynamic scholars who explicitly want to contribute to the international debate on ‘Europe for Citizens’. He has written several publications on the discrimination and marginalization of the Roma in Hungary and on biases and preferences in the new Hungarian constitution, which he characterizes as a model for illiberal democracy.
Prof. Brenninkmeijer is known as an unyielding and respect compelling “Ombudsman of The Netherlands”.
His introduction will be on the role of the Government as promoter of a peaceful society. His view is that the Dutch Government misinterprets civil rights more often with an attack on its authority and therefore claims more power, which is “a considerable weakening of the constitutional state”.

Metamoderniteit voor beginners, door Lieven de Cauter, filosoof KU Leuven.
Metamoderniteit voor beginners biedt een dwarsdoorsnede van onze tijd: een moderniteit voorbij de moderniteit. Vandaar: ‘metamoderniteit’. Het boek opent met een reeks filosofische robotfoto’s van de tijdgeest, een dieptepsychologie van het heden: over reality tv, gruwel als entertainment en het nieuwe onbehagen. Het tweede deel brengt een terugblik op het Nine Eleven-tijdperk: de oorlog tegen het terrorisme als uitzonderingstoestand. Een van de zwaartepunten van het boek wordt gevormd door politiek-filosofische beschouwingen over de natuurtoestand en over de burgeroorlog als mogelijke planetaire conditie. Vervolgens wordt het verschijnsel globalisering belicht en uitgewerkt vanuit de invalshoeken identiteitspolitiek en gemeengoed (de commons). Een aantal blogs over stadsactivisme maken dit laatste thema concreet en geven het boek een activistische toets. De verzameling sluit af met nabeschouwingen over politieke melancholie en posthistorie.
‘Zijn we uit de geschiedenis aan het vallen?’ Deze onmogelijke vraag ligt ten grondslag aan deze teksten, die zijn geschreven in de schaduw van de klimaatcatastrofe. De Cauter construeert een futurologie van het heden in memoranda voor de eenentwintigste eeuw: het nieuwe millennium voor eeuwige beginners. Dit boek wil een toegankelijke inleiding zijn op het heden. Niet alleen voor studenten, maar voor allen die geïnteresseerd zijn om ons verwarrend en donker tijdperk te begrijpen.
